Sweet Cream Cheese French Toast

A generous amount of sweetened cream cheese sandwiched in your favorite kind of bread, dipped into a fragrant batter and pan fried in butter to create a delicious French toast! French toast is already so enjoyable as it is and stuffing it with sweet cream cheese levels it up!

A few things to note:

– I don’t like soggy French toast so I toast the bread very slightly in the toaster oven before getting started. This way the bread is still soft and doesn’t become too sloppy after it’s cooked.

– Another tip to prevent soggy French toast is to soak the bread in the batter for just a few seconds on each side, until it’s covered in the batter but not drenched in it. Soaking it for too long will make it soggy in the end.

– For more richness, reduce the milk a little and add some heavy cream or use half & half.

Flavored Nice
Total Time 25 minutes
Servings 4 sandwiches

Ingredients

Cream Cheese Spread:

  • 4 oz softened cream cheese
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar +/- to your preference
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

French Toast batter:

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 6 slices of your choice of bread

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine the cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix it all together, taste and adjust as desired.
  • Tip: If you don’t want the bread to be soggy, lightly toast it in the toaster oven before getting started. This will prevent it from becoming soggy in the end.
Make a sandwich by spreading an even layer of the cream cheese filling to one slice of bread and then placing another slice of bread on top of it. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, add the egg, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar and whisk everything together.
  • Heat a pan or skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with butter.
  • Once the pan is warm, dip the sandwich into the french toast batter, making sure to coat all sides, and place onto the pan.
  • Cook for a few minutes, until the bottom is golden brown, and then flip and cook on the other side for a few more minutes.
  • Serve warm with your choice of toppings and enjoy!
